Ride A Horse
Our private rides ensure children 6 yrs old and up can have a positive first – time experience on their horse with just their family. Available by choosing the Private 1 hour forest, 1-1/2 hour beach, or 2 hour forest & beach ride. Safety is our prime directive in guiding you and your family to an enjoyable and safe trail riding vacation. Sorry, riders must weigh less than 240 pounds.
If backpackers seem unsure of what to do, courteously offer instructions to permit safe passage. People may bring private stock into the park. Planning and preparation are the keys to a successful trip. Whether you are taking a day ride or camping overnight, you must follow all stock packing regulations, which include carrying proof of a negative Coggins Test for each of your animals. Children and novice riders should consider using safety stirrups that break away if a rider falls off the horse.
Equestrian holidays start with a 2 night short break with either 5 or 8 hours riding. This Mix and Match short break is a flexible, tailored program, where guests can combine beach riding and lessons. The Mix and Match Program can be extended to a full week with 15 hours riding per person. This option will also suit you if you are a less experienced rider. Horsemanship evolved, of necessity, as the art of riding with maximum discernment and a minimum of interference with the horse. Until the 20th century riding was a monopoly of the cavalry, of cowboys and others whose work required riding on horseback, and of the wealthy, who rode for sport.
Riding

Show events such as Western pleasure use much flashier equipment, unlike the English traditions where clothing and tack is quiet and unobtrusive. Saddles, bits and bridles are ornamented with substantial amounts of silver. Women's show clothing may feature vivid colors and even rhinestones or sequins.
If a rider competing at Prix St. Georges and above is also riding a test at Fourth Level or below, he or she must also wear a helmet at all times while mounted. Team roping, also called "heading and heeling," is the only rodeo event where men and women riders may compete together. Two people capture and restrain a full-grown steer. One horse and rider, the "header," lassos a running steer's horns, while the other horse and rider, the "heeler," lassos the steer's two hind legs. Once the animal is captured, the riders face each other and lightly pull the steer between them, so that it loses its balance, thus in the real world allowing restraint for treatment.

Restrictions for outdoor sports have been lifted, but we still ask clients to observe respiratory hygiene and wear face masks in the tack room or toilet area indoors. Livery will be available for clients with their own horses, own personal accident and own public liability insurance. Our guiding services and lessons will be available for livery clients.
Riding Holidays
If it’s not snug enough, the saddle can “roll” when you try to get on. The most common injury is falling from the horse, followed by being kicked, trampled and bitten. About 3 out of 4 injuries are due to falling, broadly defined.
Studies have found horseback riding to be more dangerous than several sports, including skiing, auto racing and football. Horseback riding has a higher hospital admittance rate per hours of riding than motorcycle racing, at 0.49 per thousand hours of riding and 0.14 accidents per thousand hours, respectively.
